Álvaro Madrid was born in Seville, in 1988. He began to take his first steps in dance, which he continued at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza ‘Antonio ”El Bailarín. He moved to Madrid to enter the Taller Estudio del Ballet Nacional de España under the direction of José Antonio, where he was trained with teachers such as Aurora Bosch, Maribel Gallardo or Fernando Romero. His academic education continues with the degree in Spanish Dance Pedagogy from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza María de Ávila in Madrid. His professional career began with the presence of several companies, among them Antonio Márquez, or the Ballet Teatro Español Rafael Aguilar, where he later performed as Soloist Dancer.
He participated as a dancer in the choreographies Tengo un debilidad and Dulce española, first prizes of the XIX and XX Certamen Coreográfico de Danza Española y Flamenco de Madrid. In 2012 he joined the cast of soloists of Entredos Ballet Español, under the artistic direction of Elena Algado and Miguel Ángel Corbacho. A year later he joined the Antonio Gades Company, where he performs the title roles in his works: Don José in Carmen, El novio in Bodas de Sangre (Blood Wedding) and Frondoso in Fuenteovejuna. In October 2016 he joined the corps of ballet at the Ballet Nacional de España.
